Knit your way across Ireland - September 24-October
3, 2007
Join Chris and the good folks from Yarns
By Design for a trip through Ireland
Full
details of the trip available here»
Join us on this very unique trip to Ireland tailor-made for
knitters. Visit a country with a tradition rich in knitting
and fiber arts. Travel in the company of other knitters, and
enjoy the special opportunity to take part in workshops led
by Chris Bylsma. Chris is a well-known knitting instructor who
encourages her students to “think outside the box”
and “color outside the lines”. She will share her
expertise along the way, and through three exciting workshops.
You’ll also have two special “meet and greet”
events with Irish knitters to share knitting stories and swap
techniques. Take a real look at Irish knitting and make some
new Irish friends! We’ll also visit yarn shops, stop at
the Sheep and Wool museum, and take a ferry to the Aran Islands.
You can look forward to this and so much more on your Irish
adventure.
Ireland is a country known for its stunning landscapes, vibrant
colorful villages, Celtic relics, lush green valleys and abandoned
castles. As an ocean outpost at the western edge of Europe,
it has a natural character quite different from the rest of
Europe. Ireland’s long past has been remarkably tumultuous
provoking a tradition of courage, humour and creativity. More
recently it has become synonymous with quality goods, fine cuisine
and excellent shopping-with a wealth of Irish crafts, clothing
and gifts available throughout Ireland.
We’ll travel from Shannon north to Galway and Connemara
and then east to Dublin, our departure point. We’ll enjoy
a comfortable, luxury motor coach (a great place to knit) with
our own driver/guide as we explore the beautiful Irish countryside
